Which Mac do I have? Takes ten seconds.
Click the Apple menu, top-left of your screen.
Click About This Mac.
Read the line under your Mac's name:
"Chip: Apple M1 / M2 / M3 / M4…" — Apple Silicon. It runs.
"Processor: … Intel…" — Intel Mac. It will not run.
Check the macOS version in the same window — you need macOS 13 (Ventura) or later.
Short version: if it says Chip, you are good. If it says Processor, you are not.
